Choosing between powder coatings and ceramic coatings

The following information will help you select the best coating for your application. The only similarity is that all finishes are baked on.

Standard powder coatings may be used on any metal part instead of paint. They are cured at 400°F to melt the powder to a smooth finish. They must never again get that hot or they will burn off. Powder coatings are extremely durable and various types are formulated to endure the severity of chemicals, abrasion and chipping, or ultraviolet radiation from sunlight. High-heat powder coatings may be used on metal parts exposed to temperatures as high as 1000°F. These attractive coatings provide high-heat protection at an economical price, however they do not function as a thermal barrier. CLICK HERE for more info

Ceramic thermal barrier coatings are used on motor vehicle parts exposed to extremely high temperatures (up to 2000°F) such as headers, exhaust pipes and manifolds. These coatings increase part longevity, reduce friction, and produce more usable power. CLICK HERE for more info
